1. Great BenefitsPart-time staff at Hope House enjoy incredible flexibility in their schedules, thanks to the fact that we provide our services around the clock. You can work mornings, evenings, and weekends, in shifts that can be four hours, six hours, eight hours, or even ten hours long. (Overnight shifts are ten hours long.) So part-time work with Hope House may be perfect for you if you’re raising children, already have a full-time job, or are going to school. Our full-time staff enjoys some flexibility in scheduling as well, in addition to a handsome benefits package which includes health and dental insurance, a liberal leave policy, 401K pre-tax plan, and a retirement profit-sharing plan.
2. Participatory ManagementAt Hope House, EVERYONE has the opportunity to contribute to the decisions that directly or indirectly affect them or their jobs. Employees guide the agency, set its course, and shape its future. So if you’ve got ideas or opinions, they’ll find a welcome place here.
3. Unique Staff Development ActivitiesEveryone at Hope House works as a team. So we frequently do team-building activities that strengthen our bonds. Full- and part-time staff members have opportunities to participate in a ropes course, raft on the James River, and rock-climbing in Charlottesville. We also hold regular staff retreats that allow employees to focus on both personal and professional development. And our annual retreat is not to be missed. In addition to addressing agency goals, we also have a lot of fun. Activities usually include a band or vocal group, ice-breakers, great guest speakers, and socializing into the wee hours. All retreats and developmental activities are free for employees.
4. Cool Fundraising EventsWe raise money for Hope House with events throughout the community like the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival, the Chesapeake Arts Festival, concerts, poetry slams, and galas. They’re a lot of fun to attend, and they’re a great way to build our partnership with the community. The Hope House Thrift Shop is another way we raise funds, as well as a place where you can pick up some great bargains.

Here, you’ll find kindness, acceptance, diversity, inclusion, respect, and a belief that we can make a difference, every day.
