If you’re looking for services for yourself or someone else, start by considering the provider’s reputation. Hope House Foundation has been the leading advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Hampton Roads for more than 40 years. Executive Director Lynne Seagle lectures and consults extensively, both nationally and internationally. Hope House has extensive experience with a diversity of people that vary greatly in their need for support. The more involved the disability, the more intensive the support. We have a consistent, yet flexible, structure and schedule to meet the needs of each individual. In all cases, our goal is to help people live as an ordinary a life as possible – just as people without disabilities do. Our approach emphasizes flexible, therapeutic, and creative services designed specifically for each person, taking into account individual needs and personalities. We work closely with each person to develop practical, useful skills for living independently. And above all, we value, promote, and encourage individual choice. Whether it's shopping for groceries, managing money, cooking dinner or getting dressed, we teach the people we support the skills they need for the life they want to live. We take every step to support individual needs and work hard to ensure the safety of the people we support. We also coordinate regular doctor and dentist visits, supervise medication administration, and assist with diet and fitness. Our services are centered on individual needs, with a strong philosophy of promoting choice within day-to-day life. Located in Hampton Roads, with its beaches, countless cultural and entertainment attractions, the world's largest naval base, and more, Hope House encourages adults to be active members of the community. Many people take part in recreational activities, educational classes, and community organizations. To learn more about our services and whether they would be right for you or someone you know, please call Dana Lloyd at (757) 625-6161 or send her an email. Once you're a part of Hope House, you're a part of our family.
