Our TV Commercials | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

For years, people in our community have donated their time and unique talents to help Hope House further its mission. Our TV commercials are a case in point. It all started in 1990 when a group of talented advertising professionals came to Hope House with the idea of producing public service announcements for our organization. Art directors Jeff Tresidder and Pat Tanner and copywriters Jan Pettit and Rachel Silver approached local director and photographer Keith Lanpher, along with Creative Edge, an editing house, and asked them to donate their services. In the end, the only costs were for film and processing. The result was four award-winning TV commercials starring the people we support. Local TV stations aired the commercials for free. Organizations around the country who also support people with developmental disabilities asked to franchise the commercials for their own use. Almost twenty years later, their message is as powerful as ever, and can still be seen nationwide. And that’s just one instance of how people in our community have helped Hope House. For years, Bart Morris has designed our annual report for free, while Jones Printing has donated the printing. Chris Dickon produced an award-winning 30-minute documentary. Photographers Glen McClure and Mark Atkinson have donated their services. And countless other writers, designers, artists, and vendors have pitched in to provide us with brochures, mailers, and posters that rival those of national organizations. So if you’ve ever wondered how we pay for all the glossy brochures and posters you see, now you know: We don’t. If you have professional services or goods that you’d like to donate to Hope House – from computer skills to auto repair – please contact us. And be sure to ask us if your donation qualifies for Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
